The following map shows the 2025 noise contour, produced by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Using the slider on the map, the various contours can be viewed. The area of the 2025 summer day actual modal split 51 dBA Leq 16hr contour decreased by 5% to 108.1 km2 compared to 2024. In addition, the 2025 summer day actual modal split 54dBA Leq 16hr contour decreased by 5% to 56.8 km2 compared with 60 km2 in 2024. It should be noted that, in 2025, London Gatwick operated around 95% of the traffic compared to 2019, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on air traffic levels. Flight numbers have continued to increase year-on-year through the post-pandemic recovery, however, due to improvements in fleet mixes, flight profiles and noise updates, the contours have reduced compared to the previous year.
